What Is the Impact of the Equal Rights Amendment?
The effort to have an equal rights amendment in our constitution started back right after nineteenth amendment was ratified and women obtained the right to vote. The movement really got traction in the 19 seventies, when congress approved this language and then sent it along to states for ratification. This time ame that congress set in the proposing clause, unlike four prior amendments where the congress put ta time frame in the actual text of the amendment. Another another issue is whether or not article five even allows congress altogether to set forth any perameters on ratification, including a dead line.
