The Importance of Dividends in Equity Investment
Companies that used to give options have increasingly shifted away from restricted stock. Dividends historically have been sticky. They're like coupons on bonds. Bond markets preceded stock markets so when stock markets were first opened they had to be disguised as bonds. This is just like a bond with price appreciation. And if you had a little upside on the equity, it's fantastic.
