What Was the Scene Like in the Early Sixties?
In the black country around birmingham, there would be three, four great rooms to go to with the beautiful, sprung maple dance floors. Through those places came wilson pickett. And there was a town hall scene like here, i guess, where the guyo used to run the nebworth concerts in the seventies. So yes, you'd see some amazing artist come through. But for me, i was younger than those guys, so little bit younger, so i just used to stand in awe, looking up at the stage. You know, ow mach in. These people make it work.
