Corporate America - Is Your Job to Make Your Boss Look Good?

As an employeer, as like an individual contributor manager, it's like your job to make your boss look good. I feel like that just that is the case. But i think one of the one of the dangers of this situation is, like, if you want to preserve your relationship with one of these people, riht ah, then you might dislike sacrifice them.
