Putting Human Rights at the Centrepiece of China's Foreign Policy
i don't agree that foreign policy should ground itself in human rights, because it leads to e either endless intervention or disengagement. There's only so much you can do to coerce and force another group to behave morally that you think they should. So i think there's a a human rights policy requiresa an internal moral clarity to be externally effective. And even we're not unless we're going to be on the role of disengaging from everyone who horrific things,. In which case there's a lot of places in the world in our lifetimes that we would be less engaged with that we are more engaged with. The legacy of forcing other societies to be different morally is ambiguous at best,
