Vanguard has a market neutral fund, which i think surprises a lot of people. Vanguard is famous for very low margins, and therefore it's very inexpensive. The advantage of these private equity funds by locking up money for a long time,. You might be a to replicate the returns of private equity through some quantitative strategy. But the chances are your locking people up for a longtime is less. And therefore, maybe people will get out of the market the wrong time and get in the wrong time.
