The Government's Proposal to Reveal Extra Territorial Effects of the Act
The government wants to reign in the extra territorial effects of the act. The european court of human rights has held that there is an ext extra territorial effect to the act, and that it applies where british forces are operating over seas. So people will no longer be able to bring claims under the act. But it's proposing to introduce some form of alternative arrangement for people to make claims relating to alleged breaches overseas in military operations. Until it does atit won't bring this provision into force.
