Daniel Doar's The Instruction of Imagination and Jeffrey West's Scale are also good. Richard Doc put together a wonderful volume that very few people have read, called The Ancestors Tale. And it works back through the Tree of Life, going from human beings to chimps and bonobos. It is full of wisdom and brilliant sketches of amazing life forms.
