In quanta mechanics, they're both real until you observe them. And then what many worlds are saying is, and even after you observe them, they's both real, but now in different universes. Every time a radioactive nucleus in an atom decays, the universe splits into a universe where the atom decayed and one in which it didn't. It's happening all the time all around us, we just don't notice. But i can also see why so popular with, you know, with comic book writers. I have to share this with you as well.
