The Role of the Law Giver in the French Revolution
Rousseau has perhaps the most influence on the French Revolution. He cites Machiavelli, who wrote Discourses and the Nivey that there was never in a nation any promulgator of extraordinary laws who had not recourse to God. It's interesting how these kind of central charismatic figures in the Revolution are able to retain a significant amount of support even though they're governing doesn't look very democratic at all.
