The Principle of Discrimination
International law refers to it as the principal of distinction. This is making a distinction, or discriminating, between those who are legitimate targets of war and those who aren't. The danger with approaching like this often is that it looks like a check list, right? And we just got to go down the list, and then we come up here and, well, they killed a bunch of innocent people.
