The Psychotic's Relationship to the Symbolic
According to Lacan, the neurotic has a relationship to a container that gives their life structure and meaning. And they also have a broken relationship with the symbolic. The psychotic is somebody who feels like they're constantly being penetrated by big imaginary others. Instead of having a big symbolic other known as the law or society or language,. They now have a big imaginary other known as aliens, Barack Obama. Asian people. What the psychotic does is they create a larger than life other. That then gives their life the structure in direction that they lack.
