What Do You Know About the Asante Empire?
The Asante Kingdom, sometimes known as the Eshanti Kingdom, is not covered at all on the UK school curriculum. It doesn't really pop up very much in pop culture either. The oral poetry the story is told is that they emerge from out of the ground and give birth to them almost. These aren't people who wrote down their histories traditionally, that they would be remembered by a particular figure whose role was to remember the history on behalf of the family of the town. They turn this into one of the most successful nations that this bit of West Africa has ever seen.
