In the West we have been so socially conditioned by a preference based spirituality or I think you know older generations called it consumer Christianity Because that's our culture. We're so used to architecting a life around our personal preferences and Algorithms literally learning our personal preferences to make that even easier That we can't help but at some level carry that mentality over into prayer. Western Christians often approach silence as like me time for introverts and that's a tragedy for introverts like myself.
