The Real Power of Storytelling
I think the real power of storytelling and the way to do it well is to understand that stories can help people use their imaginations. So I'm going to walk us through four stages in this lecture. We're going to look at the philosophical situation in America up at the academic level and the intellectual level. That's going to be the level of ideas. Then we're going to work our way through the cultural situation in America, which is going to be at the level of feeling and experience. And then we are going to talk about how in a post-modern world with the cultural shifts we had people make sense of the world. The practical consequences of that has been on the ground.
