The Evolution of Roguelikes

There are roguelikes where you can create your character however you want and play through it that way like caves of cud. Then there are roguelike where you have to make decisions based off of what the game is giving you in terms of affordances. I think noido is kind of in the middle because of a bunch of qualities that it has that that I I think are a little strange which are basically that for instance there are not that many good ranged attacks some of them are obviously better than others.
