Socrates in the trial calls himself a gadfly, something along the lines of he says, I am the gadfly for Athens to sting it into action. The big one of the two big quotes other than the gadfly one that's really famous is that I know nothing. He comes to this point because the Oracle of D I tells one of Socrates' followers basically that Socrates is the smartest person.
