Is Alcohol the King of Intoxicants?

I was interested in the book also in the discussion around technology and the role of alcohol, whether indeed alcohol remains as the king of intoxicants. And maybe there's a view which says, well, actually, we no longer need alcohol alone to de-stress to connect to be entertained because we have other distractions. I wonder what you think about that.
