People would pour like lime and carbolic acid into the water to try to just sort of cover it. Febreze is not exactly fair because it like bonds to the molecules or something. So anyway, they would do this to try to fix it. But obviously that's not like going to fix the problem. Even if you are hiding the smell momentarily, the waste is still in the river.
