Mount Analogue - René Daumal (Book Review)
Hermitix
The Allegory of Death
Mountain and mountaineering as an allegory is this constant overcoming both of self, of passions, of our natural inclinations to food and fatigue and tiredness and pain. There at the centre of all creation is he who sees each thing accomplished in its beginning and its end. Until you've been up there you don't know what's there so you're pushing through with faith. Domal goes into very peculiar almost quantum physical or strange notions of physics which actually make the mountain be something that could actually possibly exist.
