Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus was a mythical Greek figure who believed in technology and progress. He wanted to help humanity through his works, much as Victor Frankenstein started from decent motives. According to myth, Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans; he was punished by Zeus for doing so.
