Chicago Police Will No Longer Chase People on Foot

Chicago police officers will no longer be allowed to chase people on foot simply because they run away, or give chase over minor offenses. The new policy requires enhanced supervision. Officers must file a report if they start a chase. Foot chases will be reviewed and officer s must weigh the seriousness of the offence against the need to make an arrest.
