Benito silvan was a haytian naval officer and lawyer. He traveled to ethiopia three times between 18 97 and 19 o six. According to silvin's own testimony, he was in africa as an agent of french colonialism. After his trip to africa, he went on to organize the first pan-african conference in london. His views were affected by his attachment to tern civilization on the one hand, and his hatian identity on the other. In this work, Silvin explores the present and future of colonialism.
