If Russia enters a period of real trouble, that perhaps China's priority will be to prevent a collapse. I think what a more practically minded politician leader in China would think is that a Russian crisis or collapse would primarily be in America's interest. As far as I can tell, this is how they're thinking. his interest for Russia to become diminished.
