How Lincoln Functioned in the Reconstruction Environment
If Abraham Lincoln had not given the speech he gave about extending the franchise to blacks in Louisiana, we might have a very different historical view of him. It's hard to imagine things could have gone any worse than they did under Andrew Johnson. Someone should write a lovely counterfactual, anyone who wants to do it, please take this idea and run. What would the world have looked like if a radical Republican had been president?
