The way people are remembered tells so much about the time that you're living in. People of african descent were not enslaved, but it was the time of forced labor. The difference is populations were coerced into working for europeans. Coercion took many forms and could be armed coercion. Black internationalism started long before black resistance to enslavement. We do know that independence did not necessarily lead to freedom, but that's a long history. It's a century later. But you know, it hasn't stopped.
