A Novel About Translation
The book is about a translator at the hague. She's translating for someone who seems to be guilty of some pretty atrocious crimes against humanity. The act of translation also gets mixed up in moral uncertainty, or this question of her own implication. I know you've said elsewhere that that was a kind of moral vertigo,. felt like an inciting, i don't know, an inciting impulse for for this project. And so there's not just an ambiguity operating in the book around intor personal relationships, but there's this kind of broader moral ambiguity that seems to be accessed through slation as a metaphor.
