The Importance of Quality of Life
For Anne, the ability to watch her grandchildren playing and sit at the dinner table with them was of such great value that it outweighed for her the disvalue of her limitations. Studies show that when persons are disabled, for instance, following an injury, they often report poor quality of life at first. But this changes over time as they come to adapt and to accept some of their new limitations.
