Cuban Exiles Hate John Kennedy, Because He Can't Get Rid of the Air Force
Castro has a small but effective air force of about 14 planes. The CIA knows that for this invasion to work, those planes have to be gone. Two days before the invasion, 8B26 bombers flown by Cuban exile pilots flies to Cuba and they go over three air bases. They do manage to take out about half of Castro's air force, leaving six or seven planes. A follow-up set of strikes had been planned for the morning of April 17th to get rid of the rest of Castro’s air force. But John Kennedy cancels the second set of air strikes, leaving these six or 7 planes intact. And the moment he does this, everyone in the CIA
