The A1C is the most common and easiest way to diagnose a prediabetic. Once you get into the six point five and above range, you're technically considered diabetic. The first thing I would want to say is, is this prediabetes for type two? Most commonly that's the case. But if someone's young and otherwise well or maybe has a family history and just about immunity or whatever, I'd want to get a couple of lab tests to make sure that they're not actually type one diabetics.
