Walmart's Influence on Financial Services
Wal-Mex has a bank which is one of the best banks in Mexico and if you're a sort of relatively working class Mexican person, it is so much better than the big free incumbent banks. They have consistently tried and failed to become a bank in the United States. The federal reserve won't let them but they have a partnership with a bank called Green Dot where they do debit cards and stuff. So again, financial services is one of those things which is potentially enormous. It does mesh very naturally with supermarkets. In the UK, supermarkets all become banks and they're very successful at that and the US are not allowed to. That was incredibly disruptive in the pharmacy space as well.
