Self-Expanding Relationships - Are You Approach-Oriented?
The self-expansion model says that whenever you develop relationships with people, they have the potential to expand. A study looked at what types of people are more likely to aggressively get into self-expanding relationships. In psychology, motivation is often broken into two categories: approach and avoid. High hope people are really clear on their goals. They're willing to be flexible at finding better pathways to getting to their goals. Low hope people are usually avoid oriented or low hope because they engage in behaviors that stop them from increasing their hope.
