Is There a Difference Between a Compass and a Map?
At certain scales of complexity, we can't plan the future. But what we can do is know possibly the next most important thing to do and then learn from that experience. A map is only helpful if somebody's walked the train before; when you're entering an uncertain future, there is no map. Nobody's experienced this before, but what you can have is a compass that orients you in a direction. And as you counter mountains and obstacles and boulders and rivers, you can shift your strategy.
