What's the Biggest Change in Chinese Gender Relations?

The idea that men plow and women weave has always been idealized in chinese literature right through to antiquity. Women had exercised far greater freedoms and authority so what changed the big step change in chinese gender relations in patriarchy was the emerge it was the song dynasty. The landed gentry was certainly in a position of insecurity but people heavily invested in their sons as they were your pathway to prestige and power. Once you idealize the purity of the male line then you need tighter restrictions on female ability which is emphasized in confusion literature and confusion philosophy.
