Can a Pressup Really Improve Your Strength?
Scientists have shown that just thinking about doing something like a pressup really can improve your performance. Motor imagery practice has been used in a range of sports from golf to rugby. In one study with college students, it was claimed that practicing basketball shooting and dart throwing with motor imagery alone was almost as effective as physical practice.
