I think if someone like Jamie Vance were running for president which I personally hope will happen at some point maybe some people think he's just mad and insane but I think you would see the approximating the same kind of cheer over someone who posed the threat to the deepest commitments and even almost religious commitments on the part of the progressive left as well as the classical liberal right. Since this man is just completely unfit for office with which I don't necessarily disagree the fury over the character of the man acts as a kind of mask, says Julian Zelizer.
