The Importance of Preservationism
I think that so often people who I feel like even dare to care about their neighborhood end up becoming falling into this mindset of we need to protect this thing. On the one hand, that's sad to me. But there is a certain type of preservationist who falls in love with the neighborhood and then believes that that love should be realized by never letting this place change. Freezing it in amber. Do you really want demographic monotony? You want to make the place unaffordable to people like you in order to protect the built environment as it currently exists? Is that a trade off you're willing to make?
