The Ethics of Ordinary People

In 2007 I wrote a book about what I called popular morality in the early Roman Empire and this was I was interested in the moral thinking, ethical thinking of ordinary people. So Greeks and Romans were absolutely consistent in saying things like proverbs and fables and exemplary stories they come up from the lowest classes from the poor from women and children. If you're rich just quite possible if you're poor justice is quite difficult to get. You know it might be desirable but it's you know generally out of reach and probably will bring you to a bad end anyway. For instance friendship is always good but not always easy. Right. And love is sweet is a sort of natural good but wealth is useful
