The Libertarian Democracy of the Anarchist Militia
The anarchist militia columns had their own war committees and there were some elected delicate representation within those war committees. But democratic control over leadership of the columns was limited. Orwell famously describes in relation to the Marx militia that he was involved in. And something broadly comparable is taking place within the anarchist militias. That coexists uneasily with the brutal imperatives of war making and questions of discipline and things like that.
