The Tautology of Optimism
People seem to like the idea that they are living in a time of momentous challenge. It's as if making rapid, quiet, peaceful progress is not exciting enough for people when they are in political mode. The more you can talk in terms of these hyperbilies, the more life seems worthwhile. That's what I call effective altruism.
