The Importance of Generating Humor in Fantasy
In John Wick, we don't get like everybody in the story is already in the know. The only thing that we kind of learn is who the heck John Wick is and we're learning with Yosef. And they do a really good job of using conventions and aspects of their genre to generate the humor so that it's extra funny. For the action story lover, it even feels maybe a little bit like an inside joke.
