The Problem With Descartes' Education
Descartes' education is not the same as a full university education in philosophy. If he had been in an academic department with people who knew Aristotle very well, it probably maybe would have turned out differently. Descartes makes this mistake deliberately through a philosophical choice that change is all local motion rather than a linguistic or pedagogical mistake. It seems like a philosophical position that's existed throughout time.
