Representative Democracies Compete With Facebook

This is partly because we live in a world where almost everything apart from democratic politics is insanely experimental. Every time we log on, we are taking part in a series of quote-unquote pseudo-democratic experiments about preferences and outcomes. But it is also true that representative democracy has to compete with Facebook. And I think that rather than trying to fix it, to be willing to try new things is the democratic spirit.
