Aristotle and the Lagoon in Lesbos

Aristotle does biology, and he begins to do it empirically. He gets to Lesbos and there's a lagoon. Why are those two things significant? Aristotle put the forms in matter so we can study them because they're close at hand. The entire body of an animal or a living being is the matter for that animal.
