Glider Pilots in World War II

The entire glider pilot legacy from really Normandy to crossing the ride in 1945 took place in only 10 months. It's just a relatively short period of time, but nonetheless their legacy and contributions were extraordinary. These guys were typically 22 23 24 years of age. And once they flew one mission and knew what awaited them on the battlefield and what awaited their buddies who didn't come home or back to base. They put on a brave face for their families, but it was clear how hard it was when they'd come back to base and see the empty bunks  and hear the stories.
