The Debt Distress in Africa
African countries owe more than half a trillion, and on that debt they will pay service this year. Zambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Chad have already defaulted; downgraded by credit agencies. African leaders are raising the issue of how risk is apportioned to them by institutions like the credit rating agencies. That is seen as a systemic injustice that needs to be addressed.
