The Role of Cork in the American Cork Industry

In 1940 the German blockade of the Atlantic was seen as a threat to supply lines and others in the industry did too smaller companies saw the price of their raw materials go up. McManus for Crown Cork and Seal found defense contracts as a way to fill in the what they couldn't do commercially but also he did see a way to well maybe there's a way to grow cork domestically as a way to sort of get away from foreign supplies.
