The Relationship Between Humor and Perception

There are two things here actually that were considering so we have what we call the above average effect that is true not just for humor but for many other traits. In case of humor people really think like about 97% of people think that they have above average humor ability which is statistically really impossible. We found some biases men were much less modest than women so men thought they were funnier There was a bigger gap between the perception and the realities in women there is the opposite effect that women tend to actually underestimate their humor ability or think they're less funny even though they might be funnier.
