Is Dopamine a Neurotransmitter?
The study looked at the regulation of dopamine, a neurotransmitter. It found that mice with healthy microbiomes had more dopamine in their brains. But this wasn't a general response across all brain chemicals. This was just applied to dopamine. And now that is just a groundbreaking finding that they weren't expecting. The gut microbiome contributes to the generation of an intestinal fatty acid metabolite structure which triggers certain neuronal expressing sensory neurons and sends an exercise induced afferent signal to the brain.
