The Decline of Douglas Fir Trees in Oregon
Two backcountry snowboarders died in avalanches over the last month. A 25-year-old California man went beyond a safety fence, fell from a rocky bluff and was swept into the ocean. Cape Kewanda has been the most dangerous place on the coast for a century. Oregon State University said that Douglas fir trees in the lower elevations of the Klamath Sisku Mountains have entered a decline spiral.
